FREE Mental Health First Aid Online Course
Most of us have been physically unwell, you are very lucky if you have not. For example, it might have been due to an accident or an infection, such as food poisoning. In this course we identify the differences between the illness, disease and sickness exploring some practical things you can do to support yourself and the people you care for.
This course is different to our Mental Health Awareness course which goes into greater detail about the different mental health conditions, treatments and the legislation relating to social care.

This course has been designed specifically for people who want to know more about mental health. Whilst it provides focus for people working in social care, it will also be useful to a wider audience of people who would like to know more about mental health.

Aims of the Mental Health First Aid Training Course
By the end of the training course, you will:
- Gain an understanding of the term mental health
- Identify the prevalence of mental health problems
- Understand the terms mental health problems and mental health illness
- Understand the terms and symptoms of depression and anxiety
- Know how to approach and engage in conversations about mental health
- Understand how to support people with mental health problems
- Understand the term suicide and people at higher risk of suicide
- Know what to do if someone tells you they have suicidal thoughts
- Understand how to promote positive mental health
- Know where to find additional information, guidance and support
