Assessment

Assessment comes in many forms and means different things to different people, however if you look at the Skills for Care Mandatory Training guide, it contains one really important sentence (against all of the listed courses).
“We recommend learning is refreshed and knowledge and competence assessed at least annually”
We believe that assessment is one of the fastest ways to support existing workers to evidence their knowledge and skills, just as Skills for Care suggests (above).
People have shared that the Care Certificate “has all this extra stuff” (namely assessing competence), but that extra stuff actually applies to all the courses in the Skills for Care guidance.
Now take that one step further, if we assess knowledge and competence and build a competence portfolio, continuously, then we are always refreshing and everyone is therefore always in date.
Think of it another way, what if you could value the knowledge people bring to a job role rather than repeating it and what if new members of staff could be preparing for induction before they start?
How much time, money and effort would that save your business?
