Home Care and Domiciliary Care

According to Skills for Care, the number of jobs in domiciliary services increased at a faster rate between 2012/13 and 2019/20 (an increase of 95,000 jobs or 15%) than jobs in residential services (an increase of 25,000 jobs or 4%).
However, as well as the COVID-19 crisis, the upcoming Immigration and Social Security Co-ordination (EU Withdrawal) Act 2020, which comes into force on 1st January 2021, is going to put an even further strain on the adult social workforce in the UK.
According to The Health Foundation:
'Around 17% of people working in adult social care in England are non-British nationals, with EU workers now making up about half of those – a share that has increased since 2012/13. Even if they were made eligible for the Health and Care visa, the new system would still mean additional cost and barriers to people from the EU compared to the current system of freedom of movement.
COVID-19 has compounded existing workforce issues in health and care and recruiting internationally will be tough next year, even without the biggest change to immigration policy we've seen in decades.'
We all know how hard it is to find staff… however, once you have found them, we can support you to keep them.
We're here to support you...
Many of our customers are some of the largest providers of Dom Care in England and they use Click to collect evidence that their staff are safe to practise. In turn, they then use that evidence to demonstrate to CQC that they meet both Regulation 18 and the Skills for Care mandatory training guidance.
In the current circumstances, Skills for Care has issued recent guidance that face-to-face training should not be used and digital methods for training and assessing learning should be sought instead. We can help, because we have been supporting our customers to do exactly that since 2006.
Especially when you recruit people with experience, we can help you to value their previous experience and not just repeat the Care Certificate and mandatory courses all over again. How many times have you recruited someone and put them through everything, just to be sure? How much did that cost your business? Then they leave and take the evidence with them…
Furthermore, as you will probably only see most of your staff at irregular intervals, due to the nature of their work, you can use Click to add evidence feedback from the families that your team regularly engage with.
